Balance

How to achieve balance in your soil. Once you achieve balance between nutrients in your soil, plus a good quantity of micro-organisms you will be well on the way to success in organic farming.

In Organic farming you are not aloud to use synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. You need to go about the whole process of organic farming with the attitude of achieving balance. Not only balance in the soil but balance in the overall concept of the farm. You need to take a whole new mindset into agriculture. It is about developing a holistic system, getting every part of your soil, farm, crop production, and lay out of the farm into alignment. Developing an integrated system of farming based on the management of the natural ecosystem and its processes, so that crop production is in balance with the ability of the soil to release nutrients for the plant.

If we can use a balance approach to organic farming then we can produce a crop that is disease free without the use of pesticides. If we are able to get all of our nutrients into a balance state then our plants or crops will have more nutrients that are in plant available form. Instead of being tied up in the soil or leaching out of the soil into waterways or catchments areas causing problems to the environment. Balance as a whole is very important balance of nutrients plus balance of the right plants growing together.

When it comes to crop production you need to rotate your crops around this helps to break up weeds, disease & pest numbers. Also it gives the soil a break (rest). It is always good to grow a legume crop while you are resting the soil then turning it back into the soil. The legume crop being a food source for soil organisms, plus given the soil a nature form of nitrogen which is plant available.

All food comes from the rich provision of God's creation. In the Bible it talks about creating a balance in the soil & in our life’s. Throughout the bible it speaks of growing a crop for 6 years then resting the soil on the 7 year. This principle when applied to farming is a chance to give the soil a break, a time to repair it self.

If you can get the balance right with your nutrients your plants will grow faster & with less fertilizers inputs. You will need to monitor the nutrient level of each element in the soil through soil testing. Plus constant an agronomist that is into sustainable agriculture to get sound advises on sustainable agriculture.
